The Supply

This chapter deals with the analysis of the Internet from the point of view of supply.

In the first part of the chapter we focus on the structure of the first three layers of our framework LIIF, Infrastructure, Access and IT, taking a McKinsey study.

In the second part we will analyze some phenomena distinguishing the supply side of the Internet like the phenomenon of the explosion of startups, mainly concentrated in the remaining two layers of the model,  in the Intermediary and in the Content layer. They will also be analyzed two major types of Internet platforms on the supply side: the Search Platform and the Publishing Platform.
